Details are pending after a semi crash that briefly closed down southbound traffic on the Kansas Turnpike near Emporia on Monday.


Two southbound semis collided in a construction zone between mile markers 129 and 130, or two to three miles northeast of the Emporia gate, around 8:30 am. Southbound traffic was halted until the wreck site was cleared roughly 30 minutes later.

Work has been ongoing since last year to repair several bridges between the Emporia tollgate exit at mile marker 127 and the Emporia service area at milepost 132.

Southbound traffic on the Kansas Turnpike is backed up near Emporia after a semi crash.


The Kansas Turnpike Authority says two southbound semis collided in a construction zone between mile markers 129 and 130, so two to three miles northeast of Emporia. No injuries have been reported, but traffic is blocked at this time.

Work has been ongoing since last year to repair several bridges between the Emporia tollgate exit at mile marker 127 and the Emporia service area at milepost 132. At this time, there is no word on when southbound traffic will return to normal near Emporia.
