Laps 4 Landon is almost here.

The annual fundraiser for cystic fibrosis will once again be held at Welch Stadium on Tuesday. The event was originally named for Landon Dody, a 12-year-old who was diagnosed with CF shortly after he was born. This year, the event will also honor 3-year-old Aiden Dreier, who was diagnosed at birth.

Longtime organizer Dr. Jennifer Thomas says it's been heartwarming for her to be part of the event.

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that creates extremely thick mucus that can clog the lungs and obstruct the pancreas of those afflicted. Thomas says treatments have come a long way, but more research is needed for treatments to make life easier for CF patients and, eventually, find a cure.

Activities officially go from 6-8 pm and will include walking laps around the Zola Witten Track at Welch Stadium as well as barbecue, games and a loaded silent auction. KVOE will broadcast live from Laps 4 Landon on Tuesday evening.
