It appears Lyon County drivers may be getting impatient with the pace of flood-related road repairs.


Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch says there have been a number of people going past barricades, even though the county has warned against that move since flooding began two weeks ago.

Koelsch says there are holes several feet deep in some cases, and driving on flood-damaged roads may create more significant holes. It can also damage your vehicle.

On top of that, Highway Department crews are working to repair roads, and they may continue this process for days if not weeks. Going around barricades then puts drivers at risk as well as crew members in case there's a crash.

Last week, over 50 Lyon County roads and intersections were closed due to flooding. The list has remained steady at around 40 closures since Friday:

-Road B-5 from Road 170 to Road 180
-Road C from US Highway 50 to Road 180
-Road E from Road 140 to Road 160
