Final preparations are now underway for Teachers Hall of Fame Week in Emporia next week.

Crews from Evergreen Design Build installed a new tablet at the National Memorial to Fallen Educators on Friday. The tablet will add the names of 32 teachers, support staffers and administrators killed over the last 15 months after the other two tablets currently on site ran out of space last year. The memorial will be re-dedicated next Friday.

Activities begin Monday evening with an introductory dinner for the inductees -- Christopher Albrecht of Brockport, New York; David Bosso of Berlin, Connecticut; Richard Knoeppel of Las Vegas, Nevada; Mary Jo Murray of Riviera Beach, Florida; and Dyane Smokorowski of Andover.

Tuesday's highlights include a bus tour and visits to the Teachers Hall of Fame Museum, One-Room Schoolhouse, Memorial to Fallen Educators and Emporia Public Library.

On Wednesday, inductees appear on KVOE's Talk of Emporia. They are the featured guest at a roundtable seminar at Emporia State's Visser Hall before attending the formal welcome dinner at Emporia State's Sauder Alumni Center and participating in the first Wine Cheese and Trivia Challenge at the Lyon County History Center.

Thursday features a screening of the documentary "Most Likely to Succeed" and the annual Children's Concert by the Emporia Municipal Band.

Besides the rededication of the National Memorial to Fallen Educators, the annual banquet and induction ceremonies are taking place next Friday.

Teachers Hall of Fame Director Carol Strickland will join Monday's Newsmaker segment at 7:15 am with more details. Go online to www.nthf.org for information.
