Two Derby residents avoided major injuries after a delivery truck crashed about 10 miles southwest of Emporia on Wednesday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the truck was northbound on the Turnpike, but it crashed at mile marker 118 around 9:40 am after a tire came off during transit. The truck hit the center barrier wall.

The driver, 71-year-old Michael Grady, was not hurt. His passenger, 70-year-old Linda Grady, suffered suspected minor injuries. The Highway Patrol crash log does not say whether she went to a hospital for treatment afterward. Michael Grady was wearing a seatbelt while Linda Grady was not.
