Residents of Emporia and Lyon County as a whole are encouraged to attend a public meeting later this month as work continues on city-county zoning regulations.

Urban Collaborative, which has been working with the city and county on combining zoning and subdivision regulations into one document for the past several years, has scheduled a draft review meeting for 6:30 pm July 24 at White Auditorium Little Theater. A short presentation will highlight updated regulations before open discussion on the proposed changes.

The latest round of discussions on PlanELC, as the combination document is called, began with a week-long workshop last fall. The goal at the city-county level has been to create clear, simple, flexible and objective zoning regulations as well as an updated land use plan. The new document will replace current zoning ordinance and other local land development regulations once it's adopted.
