The start of school is officially delayed for USD 252 Southern Lyon County.

Superintendent Mike Argabright says school will start Aug. 26 instead of Aug. 21 as originally planned. Construction has been ongoing for over a year at USD 252 schools, and Argabright says construction is on schedule. However, he says custodians need some time to get the buildings cleaned before the school year can officially start. Numerous areas need about a week to clean, prep wax and finish flooring before buildings are officially ready.

The announcement comes as the USD 252 Board of Education gets ready for its regular meeting Wednesday night. The board will have a budget hearing at 7:30 pm. Facilities improvements will also be a main discussion point, with the board also discussing transportation, school safety and insurance matters.

The meeting starts at 7 pm at the board office in Hartford. Argabright will have a facilities update on KVOE's Newsmaker segment at 7:15 am Wednesday.
