With enrollment now underway, USD 284 Chase County is near completion on an over year-long improvement project.

In 2016 Chase County residents approved a $12 million improvement bond which funded several updates to district facilities. Work began in January of last year and USD 284 Superintendent Glenna Grinstead, a recent guest of KVOE's Newsmaker segment, discusses what many of the improvements included.

Grinstead says at this time there are only a few wrap-up items needing to be completed. She says this includes finalizing locks on doors and "fine-tuning" on building HVAC systems.

According to Grinstead, they are getting closer each day to being fully complete as they have had contractors and subcontractors in numerous times over the past several weeks. However, Grinstead tells KVOE, it does not appear the work will be completed before school starts this year.

Speaking of the start of school, enrollment for USD 284 is underway at Chase County Junior-Senior High School in Cottonwood Falls until 1 pm Tuesday.

Enrollment will continue from 1 pm to 7 pm Wednesday also at Chase County Junior-Senior High. Grinstead says they also have an online enrollment option this year which parents can find by visiting www.EZschoolenroll.com.

For more information or questions contact the district at 620-273-6303 or visit USD284.org.
