After they were purchased at the Lyon County Fair premium sale Monday night, beef entries took a different route to their final destination.

Cattle were supposed to go to the Tyson plant in Holcomb for processing, but a destructive blaze Friday has shut down the facility until further notice -- so cattle are going to Nebraska City, Nebraska, instead. Lyon County Fair Board President Ken Duft says this was a first for the premium sale, but it didn't take long to come up with a backup plan.

Duft says this has been a smooth fair to date, even with the traditional rainfall from late last week and the weekend.

Upcoming activities include mutton bustin' and Buck, Rumble and Roll at the grandstand Tuesday, the antique tractor pull Wednesday, ATV races Thursday, truck and tractor pull Friday and the demolition derby Saturday.
