No injuries after semi fire early Saturday near Emporia Kansas Turnpike Authority logo

The cause of a semi fire southwest of Emporia early Saturday is under investigation.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and Emporia firefighters were called out to mile marker 119, eight miles southwest of the Emporia gate and seven miles northeast of the Flint Hills cattle pens exit, shortly after 4 am Saturday. EFD Battalion Chief Jesse Taylor says the fire developed in the trailer wheels and was either put out by the trooper on site or the driver, whose name and hometown have not been divulged.

No injuries or traffic adjustments were reported. A damage report is pending.
