Evergy name change now official Evergy logo

Westar Energy and KCP&L formally merged a year ago, but the name change to Evergy was officially made Monday.

The name change was actually adopted by the holding company involved during the merger, but business operations continued under the original names to provide a smooth transition to the company's new identity.

Customers in Lyon County and neighboring counties will now be in the Evergy Kansas Central region. Most contact information will remain the same, but there will be a new website, www.evergy.com, and a new customer email address -- This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Information about power outages can be tracked by using the website www.outagemap.evergy.com.

Evergy now serves roughly 1.6 million customers in Kansas and Missouri. Spokesperson Gina Penzig will have more details on KVOE's Newsmaker segment Tuesday.
