The United Way of the Flint Hills is nearing a milestone as the current fundraising campaign continues.

Interim Director Hannah Crowl had an update on KVOE's Newsmaker 3 segment Wednesday:

Goal is $560,000.

Crowl also thanked the volunteers involved -- and the roughly 50 businesses that donated to the Small Business Blitz last week. The event added close to $11,000 to the drive.

As part of the blitz, participating businesses entered a drawing to win a $500 KVOE advertising package. Tobias Agency won that prize during the Newsmaker 3 interview.

The United Way continues making presentations to businesses in Lyon County and seven nearby counties. It is also finalizing plans to bring Dine United events back to the community, and it's working to have a second fundraising concert as a partnership with the Emporia State University Department of Music.
