Friends of the Emporia Public Library kicked off their Fall Book Sale on Saturday.

For most, reading has taken second place to the internet. However, that's not the case at the Emporia Public Library.

Joee Seibel of Emporia says reading has always been a source of positivity in her life.

The Fall Book Sale attracted community members of all ages looking to browse for bargains, and proceeds from the sale serve as a platform for the many programs hosted by the library.

Jorge Ballester - a community member who frequents the library's sales - explains why the importance of reading is still prominent.

The Fall Book Sale will continue through Thursday during normal library hours. Items will be full price through Monday with bag sales beginning on Tuesday at $10 per bag. Prices will be $5 per bag on Wednesday and just $2 per bag on Thursday.

For more information on library hours call 340-6462 or go online to emporialibrary.org.
