A father and son from Emporia were killed in a wreck in northeast Montana last week.

Lorenzo Javier Segura, 18, was driving on Montana Highway 16 four miles south of Culbertson when he lost control on a bridge and skidded sideways Oct. 9. His car was then broadsided by a pickup driven by a currently unidentified 46-year-old man from Billings, Montana.

The Montana Highway Patrol does not list names in its crash report, but Segura and his father, 35-year-old Raudel Palacio, were killed in the crash according to Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, which is handling the funeral arrangements for both men. The second driver was airlifted to a hospital in Billings. Segura and the second driver were wearing seatbelts, while Palacio was not.

Segura was a Burlington native and graduated from Emporia High School earlier this year. Palacio was born in Mexico and was working in Hutchinson at the time of his death.

Much of Montana had snow falling last Wednesday when the crash happened.
