As the weather outside is becoming colder, it is once again time for the annual USD 253 Community-Wide Drive for Student Needs.

The drive, which collects clothing donations from local residents for district students and families, is officially underway with six locations where individuals may donate including:

*The KVOE Studios
*Good's Cash Saver
*Flint Hills Mall
*Emporia Main Street
*Dillons
*Emporia Gazette

USD 253 Student and Family Resource Specialist Heather Wagner says they are seeking winter clothing donations including shirts, pants, socks, underwear, boots, gloves, coats and hats. Blankets, sheets, pillows and belts will also be accepted.

Wagner asks that all donations be in "good condition."

Donations will be accepted at any of the aforementioned businesses through Oct. 27. Once the donations have been collected distribution will begin on Nov. 7 at Flint Hills Mall. Additional distribution days will be on Nov. 8, 11, 12, 13 and 14 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.

There will also be an additional half-day for district families and students to pick up clothes on Nov. 15.  According to Wagner, the annual drive has helped provide 300-500 families with clothing each year.
