The Straight No Chaser concert Wednesday was the latest event on Emporia's All Veterans Tribute event schedule. Much more is coming over the next few days.

A free breakfast for veterans begins at 8 am at the Emporia Senior Center, followed by the annual Veterans Roundtable focusing on the Treaty of Versailles at 7:30 pm at the Memorial Union Preston Family Room.

There will be another concert Friday as Lee Greenwood and Crystal Gayle perform at the Granada Theatre. The concert begins at 8 pm.

The weekend schedule is packed. On Saturday, Freedom Fest essentially begins at 8 am and continues until 3 pm at the All Veterans Memorial. Quilts of Gratitude starts at 11 am at the Bowyer Community Building. Sunday, meanwhile, has the annual Student Essay and Poster Awards ceremony at 2 pm at Emporia Middle School.

On Veterans Day itself, Presbyterian Manor is holding a free veterans breakfast at 7 am, followed by the parade in downtown Emporia at 9:30 am and the annual memorial service at All Veterans Memorial at 11 am. The service will be broadcast on 14 KVOE, 96.9 FM and KVOE-TV at KVOE.com. Ham and bean feeds follow at the American Legion and VFW posts, with a special concert by the ESU A Cappella Choir at 7:30 pm at First United Methodist Church.

Activities continue beyond Veterans Day. Newman Regional Health has a special presentation on veteran healthcare matters at 5:30 pm Nov. 12 at American Legion Post 5, followed by the All Veterans Show at 7 pm Nov. 15 at Albert Taylor Hall.
