The Salvation Army of Emporia is getting ready to launch its Doubler Days schedule to bolster the annual Red Kettle fundraising campaign.

The first Doubler Day event is on Black Friday. Kristi Wright will match kettle donations up to $1,000. BLI Rentals will do likewise Dec. 6, and anonymous donors are funding the matching event Dec. 13 and Dec. 20.

The Salvation Army is also one of several charitable groups with Angel Trees in the community, with trees at Bluestem Farm and Ranch, ESB Financial, the Emporia State Memorial Union, Caseys East and Walmart. People can get requested gifts for children and either return them to the location where they picked an angel or the Salvation Army office at 327 Constitution before Dec. 17. In addition, families are available for adoption through a meal or gifts.

People needing assistance through the Salvation Army for the holidays need to set up an appointment by the close of business Wednesday.

For more information about the Salvation Army's holiday projects, call the office at 342-3093.
