With Black Friday now in the past, local businesses in downtown Emporia were ready to receive large Small Business Saturday crowds to flock towards their best deals of the year.

Small businesses are the backbone of the nation's economy, making Small Business Saturday not only an important day for Emporia, but the United States as a whole. Several local businesses like Kari's Diamonds & Bridal, Brown's Shoe Fit Co., and The Sweet Granada are just a few of the businesses participating in the day of deals.

Kari's Diamonds & Bridal owner Kari Stookey appreciates holidays that encourage shopping local.

Brown's Shoe Fit Co. owner Aaron Otto says being prepared for Small Business Saturday is key.

"Small Business Saturday rivals our busiest days," says Sweet Granada owner Kim Redeker.

With the conclusion of the Thanksgiving holiday, Black Friday, and Small Business Saturday, these businesses and more will now be looking forward to the winter holiday season and the start of the new year.
