FHTC Inspiring Wranglers campaign gets another large donation Flint Hills Technical College artist rendering

Another big gift has been secured as Flint Hills Technical College continues a fundraising campaign to renovate its Hospitality and Culinary Arts area.

The Sunderland Foundation of Kansas City has approved its second major gift to the Inspiring Wranglers campaign by donating $200,000. The foundation, established by Lester Sunderland for construction, repair and restoration projects, donated $400,000 to the effort last year.

The donation pushes the campaign total to almost $1.4 million, past the halfway mark to the goal of $2.4 million.

When it comes to construction, Inspiring Wranglers will renovate and expand lab areas. It will also create dedicated classroom space and renovate the student commons area. When it comes to education, curriculum updates will let the college's program be accredited by the American Culinary Federation and let students get chef status as soon as they receive their associates degrees through the program.
