With the huge success of the inaugural Big Chill fundraising run, Communities in Schools of Mid-America will be hosting the second annual Big Chill this weekend.

Last year's Big Chill saw around 200 registered participants and nearly $10,000 raised. This year's run aims to be bigger and better, says CIS Communications Director and event organizer Victoria Partridge.

Partridge remarks that they've listened to community feedback from last year and are adding some changes.

There are three different running options for participants - the 5K, 10K, and half-marathon. Partridge says one of those three options is much more widely popular.

Schedule of events for the Big Chill:

*7:15 am - Day of Packet Pick-Up/Registration Begins
*7:45 am - Day of Registration Ends
*7:50 am - Line Up
*8:00 am - Race begins for all runners & Finish Line Party Begins
*8:45 am - 5K Top Finishers Awards Ceremony
*9:30 am - 10K Top Finishers Awards Ceremony
*10:15 am - Half-Marathon Top Finishers Awards Ceremony
*12:00 pm - Cut Off Time for all Runners & Finish Line Party ends

The Big Chill will be on Saturday, Dec. 7, located in the parking lot behind 618 Commercial St. in Emporia.

The cost to register depends on the length you choose to run. The 5K is $30, the 10K is $40, and the half-marathon is $50 to register. For more information, and to sign up, click HERE.
