Formal charges have been announced against an Emporia man and Wichita woman after a search warrant was served in west Emporia earlier this week.

Johnny Alejandro Gasca, age 31, has been charged with single counts of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute; possession of paraphernalia with intent to manufacture, plant or cultivate a controlled substance; and possession of marijuana.

Rebecca Oakman, age 26, faces single counts of possessing methamphetamine and possessing paraphernalia.

Both were arrested after a warrant conducted jointly by Emporia Police and the Department of Homeland Security. The court affidavit, or case narrative, says the case started with law enforcement responding to Newman Regional Health on Wednesday after an unnamed teenaged female was possibly involved in narcotics and money handling.  The investigation led to 2039 West 12th, where authorities say they gained consent to search and subsequently found different paraphernalia and small amounts of meth.

An announcement on court dates is pending.
