Saturday morning in Emporia was bountiful with Christmas activities and a healthy holiday cheer shared by all.

The community's first Christmas event came in the form of the Kansas Children's Service League's Red Stocking Breakfast at Pizza Ranch. Doors opened at 7:30 am, as first light crept over the morning horizon. The line was out the door long before this though, as Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope says.

Consistently packed attendance was a good sign for the support of the KCSL with high ticket sales and many bids on the silent auction. Sheriff Cope commends the KCSL and say's they're vitally important to Lyon County.

Also taking place Saturday morning was the Emporia Public Library's annual Breakfast with Santa. The library was packed with little boys and girls eager to tell Santa Claus what they want for Christmas. The atmosphere was a reflection of the holiday spirit with Christmas music being played.

Both events saw tremendous community participation and success, all while wrapping up their separate activities before noon.
