Foggy conditions have abated, but windy weather is in store for the rest of Monday.

So far, Chase County is the only area county under a wind advisory. That lasts until noon. However, wind gusts as high as 45 mph will be evident through most of the day areawide.

New outdoor burning is strongly discouraged and residents are encouraged to take precautions prior burns don't rekindle.

Dense fog advisories covered the area until a strong cold front dispersed the fog Monday morning.

6:45 am Monday: Dense fog advisories announced for area

Thick fog is starting the week for the KVOE listening area.

Dense fog advisories are currently posted. Lyon and Osage counties are in an advisory until 7 am. Chase, Coffey and Greenwood counties are in separate advisories until 8 am. Morris and Wabaunsee counties were all included earlier but have since been dropped.

Visibility is currently three blocks or less in Emporia and may be down below a quarter-mile until a strong cold front sweeps through the area, dispersing the fog but dropping our temperatures to the low or mid-30s and pushing wind chills at times into the teens, thanks to winds as high as 45 mph.
