This weekend's list of events will include the return of a special dance honoring the memory of a former Emporia State University student who passed away over a decade ago.

The second annual Briana Mundy ESU Scholarship Fund Christmas Ball will be taking place from 6 to 10 pm at the Clint Bowyer Community Building Saturday evening. Mundy, a former ESU art student, sadly passed away due to complications with Spina Bifida during her sophomore year at ESU.

To honor her memory, her mother, Vivian Steavenson, and several friends to the family looked to establish the Briana Mundy scholarship at ESU for students in the art department. This includes event organizer Barb Lowery who says if you knew Brianna, you knew she never acknowledged that she had a disability.

Lowery says the evening's format will be little changed from last year and will include plenty of food, music, professional photographs and a silent auction. An addition to this year's Christmas Ball will include representatives of Dynamic Discs being on hand to provide games and giveaways throughout the evening.

The cost to attend is $25 per person or $125 for a table of six. Lowery says this could possibly be the second and final Christmas Ball as they are very near to reaching their fundraising goal of $5,000 which would allow the scholarship to be fully endowed at the university.
