The newest addition to Emporia State University's long list of available scholarships may be growing soon thanks to the efforts of organizers and charitable donors to the second annual Brianna Mundy Scholarship Fund Christmas Ball Saturday evening.

The second, and possibly final, event was held at the Clint Bowyer Community Building and featured food, music, professional photography, a silent auction and even disc golf courtesy of Dynamic Discs. All the efforts in putting together the evening are to support the endowment of the Brianna Mundy Scholarship for art students at ESU.

Brianna Mundy, a former ESU art student, was born with Spina Bifida which confined her to a wheelchair for the majority of her life. Over a decade ago Brianna sadly passed away due to complications with the disease.

Brianna's mother Vivian Steavenson Mundy, and several close friends decided to organize the scholarship and Christmas ball in Brianna's honor to help keep her memory alive. Steavenson Mundy says her hope is through the scholarship students at ESU will embody the same spirit and perseverance Brianna displayed throughout her life.

In order for the scholarship to be fully endowed by the university, the event needed to raise $5,000. Totals from the Christmas Ball are currently pending.
