Light accumulating snowfall is possible areawide starting Tuesday night, meaning winter weather advisories for Lyon and all surrounding counties through much of Wednesday.

Most of the area -- Lyon, Coffey, Morris Osage and Wabaunsee counties -- are in an advisory from 6 m Tuesday until noon Wednesday. The exceptions, Chase and Greenwood counties, are in a separate advisory from 9 pm Tuesday until 6 pm Wednesday.

Light snow could develop before midnight an occasionally mix with freezing drizzle. Between a dusting and 3 inches of snowfall are expected along with a thin ice glaze. Most of the accumulations will take place before sunrise.

Slick travel is possible during the overnight hours and perhaps through much of the morning before snowfall changes to light rain by early afternoon.
