Winter weather advisories announced for Lyon, most surrounding counties Wednesday

Much of the KVOE listening area is under a winter weather advisory for Wednesday.

Lyon, Coffey and Osage counties are in an advisory from 6 am Wednesday to 12 am Thursday. Chase and Greenwood counties, meanwhile, are in an advisory from 12 am Wednesday to 12 am Thursday.

Up to 2 inches of wet snow are possible, with the snow mixing with rain in the morning and changing to a cold rain in the afternoon and possibly becoming all snow after sunset. Blustery north winds as high as 35 mph are also expected by evening.

The National Weather Service says drivers can expect slick travel conditions for the morning and evening commute periods.
