United Way approaching $560,000 goal; campaign celebration date set United Way logo

The United Way of the Flint Hills is nearing the end of the annual fundraising campaign.

On KVOE's Newsmaker segment Wednesday, KVOE General Manager and 2019 United Way drive chair Ron Thomas announced March 25 as the date and the Bowyer Community Building as the place for the annual campaign celebration luncheon. He also announced the drive has generated about $530,000, or about 94 percent of the $560,000 goal.

The campaign helps to fund nearly 25 community partners in Lyon County and seven nearby counties, and Thomas says there are three main focal points as the United Way bolsters the area's quality of life.

Thomas encouraged area businesses to contact him or the United Way office to schedule a presentation. He also reminded residents the donations serve people of all ages and the United Way's Emerging Needs grants help the area in addition to the work of the community partners.

Besides the annual campaign celebration, Thomas said plans are developing for a fundraising auction in early March. For more information about the drive and upcoming events, call the United Way at 342-7564 or go online to www.unitedwayoftheflinthills.org
