Cupid's Arrow has struck.

During KVOE's Morning Show on Friday, Jim Richard claimed the grand prize -- a one-sixth carat diamond heart pendant valued at $500 from Kari's Diamonds and Bridal -- after the love word "snuggle" was announced.

Richard and the other qualifiers had to remember their love word and Richard had two minutes to call KVOE when his word was announced. It took Richard less than 20 seconds to call the station.

Richard says when he and his wife found out he won the were instantly in shock.

Richard then picked up his winnings, along with is daughter Bailee, Friday afternoon. Kari's owner Kari Stookey says they enjoy being a part of the annual Cupid's Arrow promotion and says the reactions of the winner, and everyone who stops in to purchase a Valentine's Day gift, makes it all the more enjoyable.

While Bailee Richard wore the pendant out of the store Friday, Jim Richard jokingly says there may be a bit of a wrestling match in the house later between his wife and daughter to see who gets to keep it.

Since Jan. 31, KVOE listeners listened for the special Cupid's Arrow sounder between 11 am and 3 pm weekdays. Three callers were then randomly selected, with each caller choosing a special love word from a short list announced on the air. Correct guesses led to prizes from participating sponsors, including AKA The Sports Fan, Bruffs Sports Bar and Grill, Emporia Floral, Gambino's Pizza and The Sweet Granada -- as well as entry in Friday's final round.
