The Coffey County Health Department has confirmed the first positive coronavirus case in the county.

The case was confirmed Thursday after testing sent to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment came back positive.  The case involves a 65-year-old male county resident whose name will not be released.

The county health department will, however, identify and inform individuals who may have had close contact with the positive individual. Close contact is defined as having been within six-feet of the individual for a prolonged period of time.

The confirmation comes just after Coffey County recently announced a stay-at-home order for all residents earlier Thursday.
