Patrick Mahomes' charity has a big event coming this weekend, and a local nonprofit will be among the beneficiaries.

15 and the Mahomies has slated what it calls "Birthday with the Mahomies" at 7:30 pm Thursday. The virtual event will feature appearances from actor Paul Rudd, music legend Quincy Jones, Kansas City Chiefs players and others. The event will also feature a live auction featuring memorabilia and what the organization says are "one-of-a-kind experiences."

Kansas Children's Service League, which has a regional office in Emporia, is among the 15 beneficiaries. Plans for agency funding are currently pending.

The original goal was to generate 1,500 donations at a minimum of $15 each for a goal of $22,500. The donation goal has now been increased to 2,250, meaning a projected dollar amount of almost $34,000. More information is online at www.15andthemahomies.org/birthday.
