The city of Emporia's mask mandate may be extended by Wednesday evening.

Emporia City Commissioners may extend the ordinance for 30 days with no changes during their upcoming action session. The ordinance, set to expire Wednesday, requires people to wear face masks or face coverings in certain circumstances, including indoor and outdoor public places where social distancing can't be maintained and any time residents are receiving healthcare services.

Infrastructure matters will dictate the remainder of the session with commissioners poised to possibly approve a resolution to authorize an application for CDBG Sewer Grant funding for work on sanitary sewer lift station two. Contracts with BG Consultants for the design of FEMA related projects an ordinance amending city code for the charge of water and sewer services for multifamily dwellings and a potential resolution authorizing the offering of 2020 refunding and Improvement General Obligation Bonds may also see approval.

The meeting is set to begin at 7 pm inside the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium.
