The search for the next leader of USD 253 Emporia Public Schools moves into the next phase Monday.

Superintendent interviews will take place Monday and Tuesday, with two candidates interviewing before the Board of Education on Monday and one on Tuesday. Candidate names will be revealed shortly before their interviews begin.

Once the interview process is done, the board will have two special executive sessions relating to personnel matters as part of a special meeting at noon Tuesday at Mary Herbert. The board also has a regular meeting at 5:30 pm Wednesday at Mary Herbert, with an executive session on personnel and another one on negotiations planned. There is no word on whether there will be an announcement as part of the Wednesday meeting.

The search began in December after prior superintendent Kevin Case resigned suddenly in November. There is one declared candidate for the position: Interim Superintendent Allison Anderson-Harder, who was the district's executive director of special services when she assumed the interim role.
