The state of Kansas will be awarding more than $6.4 million in grants for domestic violence and sexual assault programs and child advocacy centers in Kansas for 2020.
In total, over $5 million will be awarded for domestic and sexual assault grants and just over $940,000 will be awarded in children’s advocacy center grants. The awarded funds will benefit programs in over 20 counties in the state of Kansas.
The list of recipients includes SOS here in Lyon County. According to a media release from Governor Laura Kelly’s office, SOS will receive close to a combined $300,000 in grant funding.
In the media release Governor Kelly says “from issues of domestic violence to children’s advocacy, it’s important that we provide the resources these important organizations and their staff members need to keep Kansans and our communities safe.”
SOS Director Connie Cahoone will join KVOE’s morning show Thursday at 8:10 am to comment further on the grant awards.
