Pretrial proceedings are nearing an end in the case of a former Emporia chiropractor accused of rape and sexual battery.
A motions hearing set for Monday in the case of Eric Hawkins was canceled at prosecutors’ request. This means a final pretrial hearing Aug. 14 is next on the docket.
Hawkins faces two related trials on three sets of charges this summer. He is currently set to go to trial starting Aug. 19 on charges of rape against a then-16-year-old girl in 2015 and aggravated sexual battery against a then-22-year-old last year. He has a separate trial set to begin Aug. 22 for sexual battery allegedly against a then-32-year-old woman dating back to 2015.
