Formal charges are pending against a Madison man after a brief chase in the town over the weekend.
Greenwood County Sheriff Heath Samuels says a deputy saw a pickup stop at Southwest Boulevard and Lincoln. The truck had no license plate.
The deputy proceeded to stop the vehicle, but the driver left the scene and went west a block on Lincoln until it got to Fifth and Lincoln, where it went to the left side of the road, proceeded into a ditch and got stuck briefly. The driver, later identified as Nolin Trester of Madison, got the truck free but drove into a front yard and came to rest in a row of trees.
Trester allegedly left the truck on the passenger side but was arrested quickly and taken into custody. He was booked on suspicion of several traffic violations and unspecified drug violations.
