Emporia Public Schools have announced the hiring of a new Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
Following a short special school board meeting Thursday, the district hired Kelly Bolin to fill that position. Her appointment was approved pending the release from her current contract at USD 443 Dodge City. Bolin has served as principal for two elementary schools in that district since 2008.
USD 253 Superintendent Kevin Case says Bolin's experience in diverse school settings made her a good fit for the job.
Prior to her time in Dodge City, Bolin also worked in education in Ohio. As assistant superintendent, Bolin will be responsible for all matters relating to employees, including recruitment and retention, a key thing Case says going forward.
Bolin replaces Dr. Andy Koenigs who resigned last month to accept a new position in Derby. Bolin will officially start with the district on July 1.
