A ribbon cutting is planned Wednesday morning at as the MealSpot food truck officially makes its debut in Emporia.
The new food trailer began operation Monday. It provides free meals to everyone 18 and under. The mobile unit is being made possible thanks to a federal grant through the United Way in collaboration with USD 253 and the Emporia City Commission to reduce childhood hunger.
After Wednesday, the MealSpot trailer will continue operation through July 28 unless otherwise noted, with the hours of operation between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The lunch on July 5 will be created by a guest chef from EVCO.
The ribbon cutting is planned for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday outside the Emporia Public Library.
