Emporia Police are investigating an injury accident that occurred Monday morning near 10th and Congress Street.
A passenger car driven by 52-year-old Maria Gutierrez was northbound on Congress when it struck a parked vehicle. According to police, it appears Gutierrez was having a medical condition just prior to the accident. Afterward, she complained of leg and chest pain. The airbag deployed and Gutierrez was wearing her seat belt. She was transported to Newman Regional Health.
The vehicle was towed from the scene. No traffic citations are expected to be issued.
