Men are donning aprons and spatulas to prepare for Real Men Can Cook.
Real Men Can Cook is a fundraising and social event put on by Kiwanis to showcase men behind the apron to serve delicious samples to attendees.
The event will be happening at Flint Hills Technical College, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 14.
Emporia Kiwanis board member Jerry Karr says the idea originated outside of Emporia but has since evolved into a fun event that helps raise awareness about local service groups' activities.
Karr says the event works well for the group as they've held similar activities in the past.
Fellow board member Susan Klamm says they had over 100 tasters participate last year, and she expects a wide selection of food choices this year.
Klamm says to expect a variety of cooking styles and food samples.
Tickets are available at Price Chopper, Country Mart, The Chamber office, Main Street office in Emporia, or contact any Kiwanis member.
Ticket prices for adults are $8 each, children ages 5 through 14 ticket are $5. Children under 5 are free.
