Lyon County Commission approves vacation of rural road

Lyon County Commissioners are moving forward with a road vacation along Road 210 between Road H and Road J, north of Emporia.
A public hearing was held Thursday morning, attended by two landowners. Commissioners attended a road viewing on Wednesday. Scott Briggs says it was apparent to him, vacating the road made sense.
Commissioners voted 3-0 to vacate the road.
In other business a letter of support was approved 3-0 for Hetlinger Development Services, Inc. for a grant to the Kansas Department of Transportation. The grant supports L-Cat transportation services.
The county commission also approved five requests for Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods for road and bridge projects. Woods also gave comparisons on 2016 and 2017 expenses and the Recycle Trailer Tally, both of which he said are doing well.
The next county commission meeting will take place Oct. 19.
