Bowyer returns for 79 Fund Emporia Community Foundation benefit

The Clint Bowyer Community Building was overflowing, Thursday night, for Emporia's biggest single-day fundraiser.
The Clint Bowyer 79 Fund Emporia Community Foundation Benefit banquet and auction brought in over $324,000.  Bowyer was in Emporia ahead of this weekend's Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway.
A Cessna trip to any race brought in $30,000.  A fishing excursion in Cabo San Lucas drew $27,000.  And two custom paintings from Bill Patterson garnered $13,500 each.  Proceeds will benefit area youth and other local programs in the Emporia area.  Final fundraising totals are pending.
Emporia's favorite NASCAR driver, Clint Bowyer is back in town ahead of the Hollywood Casino 400 race at Kansas Speedway for his annual 79 Fund Emporia Community Foundation benefit.
Bowyer visited Thursday morning with KVOE News about some of the special things he had planned for this year's event.
The auction includes a fishing trip in Cabo San Lucas, a Cessna plane trip to Daytona for next year's race and a Dale Earnhardt Jr. fire suit among other big ticket items. Bowyer says he's always impressed by the support he receives in his hometown.
Proceeds raised from the event go to benefit area youth and other local programs in the Emporia area.
