UPDATE: Suspect identified in Taser incident, domestic battery call, altercation with EPD

Emporia Police have released the name of a man accused of battering a woman and being disorderly with local law enforcement Monday evening.
 
Wilver Sandoval, 19, was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
 
Police, Lyon County deputies, ESU Police and Safety and Emporia EMS were dispatched to the 300 block of Weaver shortly after 5 pm. Police Lt. Kevin Risley tells KVOE News the initial report was for a domestic battery call after Sandoval battered an adult female. According to Risley, the man continued disorderly behavior until he was Tasered and eventually subdued.

Nobody involved in the incident was hospitalized.

6 a.m. Tuesday

Formal charges are pending following an altercation between a man and Emporia Police in southeast Emporia early Monday evening.

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Weaver shortly after 5 pm. Sgt. Kevin Risley tells KVOE News the initial report was for a domestic battery call after the man allegedly was belligerent with an adult female at the address and later assaulted her. According to Risley, the man continued disorderly behavior until he was Tasered and eventually subdued. 

Nobody involved in the incident was hospitalized.

Police are not currently releasing the man's name. Risley says he was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including multiple counts of battery on a law enforcement officer.

In addition to Emporia Police, Lyon County deputies, Emporia State Police and Safety and Emporia rescue workers responded.
