Merry Christmas, I'm Steve Sauder and on this Christmas Day, I'm going to detour from my typical single topic message with two diverse thoughts.

First, a short tribute and big Thank You to Bobbi Mlynar. She is retiring after over 8 years on the Emporia City Commission. Bobbi is a local girl who was an exceptional trumpet player in high school who became a legendary newspaper reporter for the Gazette. Let me say legendary at the Gazette is high praise. Bobbi was also an excellent City Commissioner displaying the rare ability to be skeptical but willing to be convinced. Not sure we've had a more relevant commissioner in Emporia.

Time is short today and Bobbi deserves to be recognized and I didn't want to wait until spring to offer it. Hopefully, she will be my guest on the On-Air Chat in April. She undoubtedly has some amazing stories to share.

Thanks, Bobbi Mlynar, you are a great asset to Emporia.

Second I'm sharing with you the lyrics to one of my favorite Christmas songs - DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR - written by Noel Regney and Gloria Shayne. It's a special message about the promise of this special day!

Said the night wind to the little lamb
Do you see what I see
Way up in the sky little lamb
Do you see what I see
A star, a star
Dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear
Ringing through the sky shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear
A song, a song
High above the trees
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king
Do you know what I know
In your palace wall mighty king
Do you know what I know
A child, a child
Shivers in the cold
Let us bring him silver and gold
Let us bring him silver and gold

Said the king to people everywhere

Listen to what I say

Pray for peace people everywhere

Listen to what I say

The child, the child

Sleeping in the night

He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light

And the final refrain:
He will bring us goodness and light

May the blessings that Christmas brings be
heard loud and clear by people everywhere!
