Emporia High girls hold on for 40-33 win over Parsons

The Emporia High girls basketball team held on for a 40-33 win over Parsons in the opening round of the Alfred Smith Classic Tuesday. 

 The two teams played to a 8-8 tie after the 1st quarter. Emporia High held a 16-11 lead at halftime. The Lady Spartans took control of the game in the 3rd quarter out scoring Parsons 18-6 to take a 34-17 lead going to the 4th quarter. Coach Carolyn Lee said they played the way they are capable of in the 3rd quarter.

 

 

Parsons out scored Emporia High in the 4th quarter 16-6 but the Lady Spartans were able to hold on for the win. Mya Tovar led Emporia High with 16 points. Taylor Milleson added 11 points. The Emporia High girls are 1-1 and will play Independence Friday in a 7pm game.
