Dylan Farr scored 25 points to lead Emporia High to a 85-71 win over Parsons in the opening round of the Alfred Smith Classic Tuesday.
Kyler McCullough added 12 points, Ja'Len Carter and Jay Wilson both scored 11 points for Emporia High. The Spartans trailed 24-21 at the end of the first quarter. They would out score Parsons 23-16 in the 2nd quarter to take a 44-40 lead into the locker room. Coach Beau Welch said the players who came off the bench were the difference.
Emporia High began to put the game out of reach in the 3rd quarter out scoring Parsons 20-13. In the 4th quarter Emporia High out scored Parsons 21-18. The Spartans improve to 2-0 and will play Independence Friday night wit tip-off set for 8:30p.
