(KUathletics) Kansas Football Coach Charlie Weis met with the Media Thursday to talk about the season.
Coach Charlie Weis says developing chemistry is a big key.
Offensively, the Jayhawks return 13 letterwinners, headlined by two senior All-Big 12 selections, tight end Jimmay Mundine and offensive lineman Ngalu Fusimalohi. They will be joined by wide receiver Tony Pierson and running backs Brandon Burbon and Taylor Cox, all seniors. Sophomore Montell Cozart has already been named the starting quarterback.
Jayhawk defenders look to be anchored by senior linebacker Ben Heeney, a two-time All-Big 12 pick and a preseason member of the Chuck Bednarik, Butkus, Bronko Nagurski and Rotary Lombardi Award watch lists. The secondary will be led by the 2013 Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year, sophomore safety Isaiah Johnson who grabbed a team-best five interceptions last year.
Kansas kicks off their season September 6th against Southeast Missouri State.
