Royals sweep Diamondbacks

Don't Look now, but if the Major League baseball play-offs were to begin today, the Kansas City Royals would be in. Thursday night the Royals out scored the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2 to move into the 2nd wildcard spot.

Jeremy Guthrie tossed a complete game. he retired the final 19 hitters he faced for his eighth career complete game. He gave up seven hits and struck out four, as the Royals won their fourth straight.

Offensively Alex Gordon hit a two-run home run, Salvador Perez drove in two runs while Nori Aoki and Alcides Escobar each drove in a run in the win. The Royals are also now only 2.5 games back of Detroit in the AL Central Standings. The Royals begin a 3 game series with San Francisco Friday night in Kansas City.
