Emporia A Legion baseball team opens zone tournament with a win Featured

The Emporia Junior American Legion baseball team open zone tournament play with a 13-3 win over Chanute Saturday.

Post 5 scored 3 runs in the first thanks in part to two hit batters with the bases loaded. Emporia added 4 more runs in the 2nd inning. . Post 5 put the game out of reach with 6 runs in the 4th inning. Josiah Senne (Sin-e) drove in 2 runs with a single. Senne drove in 3 runs. Bobby Trujillo and Camden Kirmer each drove in 2 runs. Avery Peek was the winning pitcher going 5 innings giving up the 3 runs on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts. The Post 5 Juniors will play number 1 seed Linn County Sunday. Linn County had a first round bye.
