Topeka High takes two from Emporia High basketball Featured

A 4th quarter rally came up short for the Emporia High boys basketball team in a 75-66 loss to Topeka High Tuesday night. Topeka High won the girls game 62-33.

In the boys game the Spartans trailed by 22 points in the 3rd quarter but would go on a 20-5 run in the 4th quarter to cut the deficit to 3 at 66-63. Topeka High closed out the game on a 9-3 run. Coach Beau Welch was encouraged by the rally.

Emporia High was led in scoring by Kyler McCullough with 19 points. Beau Baumgardner added 13 points and Spencer Stewart finished with 11 points.
 
In the girls game Topeka High jumped out to a 16-0 lead and never trailed on the way to a 62-33 win. The Lady Spartans struggled offensively, they were 5-21 from the free throw line. Coach Carolyn Dorsey called it a long night.

Taylor Milleson led Emporia High with 13 points.
 
Both the girls and boys play at Topeka Seaman Friday night.
